Hipmunk has built the most popular AI Travel Planning Assistant, called “Hello Hipmunk”, available on Facebook Messenger, Skype, Slack, and via email. First launched in November 2015 (Beta), Hello Hipmunk was the first bot to support flight and hotel search and bookings, general travel research and advice (when to go, where to go), and contextual alerts and payments. We are the most-used travel bot in the US, and now as part of Concur, Hello Hipmunk will become even more powerful for leisure and business travelers.

Our mission is to continue driving this innovation and build a virtual travel assistant for frequent travelers that makes their planning and in-trip experience easy and seamless.

About You:

We are seeking an innovative product manager to help us lead our Hello Hipmunk strategy and this cutting-edge team. This position requires a self-starter who is curious and unafraid of jumping into an entirely new field: chatbots and artificial intelligence. 

Previous chatbot or AI experience isn’t required, but you should have a proven track record owning a consumer-focused web or mobile product and innovating to delight customers. Your innovation stems from collaboration and partnership with the designers and engineers you work with, as well as external partners (e.g. Facebook, Skype). Numbers don’t scare you and the first thing you do in the morning is check your dashboards to see how your product is performing. You’re also at ease diving into an in-depth product analysis to learn how a new feature is performing. You’ve always got your roadmap in mind and as a strategic thinker, you have a 12-month view of where you want the product to end up, but you also know what the team needs to focus on tomorrow.

Responsibilities

  • Provide product direction and improve product strategy to accelerate company growth
  • Grow our existing chatbot product so that it is a driver of innovation and growth for the company
  • Partner with 3rd party platforms (Facebook, Microsoft, Slack) and define the strategic relationships, deciding when to incorporate new platform features into the product
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Business Development, and other teams to make innovative ideas become product realities
  • Lead data analysis to know the chatbot product inside and out, understanding how customers use the product and what they ask the product (what they type)

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in product management in consumer web or mobile products
  • Strong understanding of design thinking and product development process
  • Ability to create product specifications and wireframes
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ease presenting to partners and internal senior leadership team
  • Exceptional data analysis skills
  • Outstanding written/oral communication and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A self-starter, a team player, and driven
  • Ability to motivate a team, provide clear direction, and give insight on industry trends
  • BA/BS degree required

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with chatbots, Facebook Messenger, Skype, Slack and other messaging platforms
  • Previous startup experience
